226 Pain Anesthesia   MA We are working with a private group practice seeking a Pain Anesthesiologist to join them in practice. Currently, there is a 5 week wait for an appointment. This is a large volume practice and they specialize in rehad and spine. They prefer to treat conservatively but would like someone versed in invasive techniques. The hospital is expanding their pain service to include cancer treatment services and they are searching for someone to help with that coordination.

227 Orthopaedic Surgery Brunswick NJ Private practice group of three physician seeking a fourth. They are extremely busy and the position is open due to growth. They are looking for a good generalist or fellowship trained in sports or hand. They go to a couple of hospitals. All within a 5 mile radius of the office. You can expect to do everything. Lot of general in addition to sports medicine. Work Schedule - 5 days per week. 1/3 call schedule after someone joins. They have one office and they are opening an office in October. They are partners in an outpatient surgical center. Each office has 4 - 5 exam rooms, x ray, bone density, physical therapy. patients per day - 45 - 55 patients per day. that is why they are looking. They will book the new guy with new patients so he can build his own following.

One of the few groups in this area. They run a very good practice. They limit the HMOs the deal with. Very good reputation in the community. Payor mix of the patient base 15% workman's comp. 20 % medicare 15% auto accident insurance, the rest HMO.

Partnership - 18 month employment contract. 18 month contract to full partnership. Productivity formula. Salary $140-$150k to start. They believe in 100% productivity from day 1. If you work hard - end up with a bonus of $60 - 80k in year 1. If you want to assist in spine and then pick up other work it is available. Ultimately, well over $300k and more, when you become a full partner. Full benefit package - health with family, car allowance, cell phone, 3 weeks vacation and 1 week cme, malpractice insurance, pension after 2 years. Life insurance and disability when you become a partner.

They are looking for someone who is hard working. Someone who can build a practice. They enjoy good patient relationships, good medical skills, good relationships with nurses and hospital staff. They have a very clean orthopaedic practice. no malpractice cases.

236 GI Washington DC DC Private practice of 3 GIs seeking a 4th associate to join them. They are
looking for a team player, motivated, energetic, people person with good
interpersonal skills, Competent consultant with good endoscopic skills.
They are looking for someone with local ties preferably. They are searching
for a competent consultant able to deal with the gamet of GI disease and
interaction with patients with IBS and IBD comfortably. The ideal candidate
will be someone who wants to help the practice grow, team player, committed
to the practice. Work Schedule rounds 7:30 am to 9 am, office hours 9 - 5.
Rounds/consults/clean up after 5 pm.

The practice is in a high growth area and the demand for additional
practitioners is growing. The demand for healthcare continues to grow.
They do not need a body who is not going to perform or who is not committed
to the practice. They need someone who is going to be a worker. They have
a quality practice, excellent office staff, excellent referral network, and
they like to educate their patients. Their patients are upper/middle class.
1 - 2 income families. Soccer moms, professionals, government (managerial)
employees, and CEOs. Medicare is 55% of their practice, PPOs are 40% and 5%
medicaid/uninsured. 1/4 is the call schedule. the new physician may have
the option to take extra call to get busier faster.

There are 18 employees in the practice. 3 medical assistants, 9 office
staff scheduling, filing, insurance, 3 part time, 3 docs. The patient base
exceeds 500k people. 3,000 active, 10,000 total. The practice sees 36 - 40
patients per day. They do 10 -16 endoscopic procedures daily. They see
10 - 12 patients per physician. 3,000 square feet of office space. The
exam rooms are 100 square feet. Procedures room, modern equipment, videos,
IRS Ultroid, Breath hydrogen analyzer. Flex sigs, Breath Hydrogen,
IRS/Ultroid. All procedures are done at the hospital, ERCP, Liver biopsis,
Laser, gulguaration, barretts, polyrs, delation, other procedures done at
the endoscopic center.

240 ORS NY NY They are searching for 2 - 3 ORS to take positions in their community either
joining private group practices or perhaps starting their own practice.
They are willing to guarantee $400 - 500k salary guarantee plus productivity
incentive. Could do one year or two year agreement. They will pay for
malpractice and all insurances paid. They have a severe need for docs to
cover trauma. They are looking for docs who are willing to take 5 - 7 days
of 24 hour trauma call. You can build a practice on your non-call time.
They are a level 2 trauma center with 600k people in the immediate
community. 95% insured patient base at the hospital.

Most are solo in the area. There are 2 groups of two. There were a couple
of larger groups, lost due to retirement. Most of the practices are with
solo or smaller groups, 4 - 5 max. There is a group that is looking for a
partner. There is another partnership that is looking as well. There are a
couple of buildings that they have bought that could be renovated into an
office.

Brand new equipment in the OR. They don't have a rehab facility. They have
an orthopaedic floor. They have occupational therapy. They do have an
outpatient rehab facility. They are taking their old ER to be their new
physical therapy and occ med floor. Service coverage will be 15 - 25
orthopaedic ER visits per day. Broken fingers to car accidents. Most is
wrapped up through fast tract splint and send to the office. Some trauma
that has to get the ORS to come in.

246 Neurosurgery Metro PA They have a need for a general neurosurgeon to work in a community about 30
miles from Client. Neuronavigation in the OR. Stryker is the equipment
that they have. This is a private practice feel although you are
technically a full time academic practice without the residents. They have
a solo practitioner in this town who did 325 cases last year. Can't do any
more. There are more cases but he just can't get to it. There is one other
guy in the county who is a solo practitioner who is not interested in doing
more, 175 to 200 cases per year. This guy is phasing out. They have other
areas that they can't tap into because of no additional coverage. The other
guy shares call with him. The university will make alternative arrangements
with the docs on staff there and they will provide coverage for him. All
major trauma gets lifeflights.
In 6 years, he has had one call after 11 pm.

Financial package - They will offer a base salary and an incentive. Total
compensation package in the $400k neighborhood.

Benefit package - Full time faculty position, one from the health system and
one from the university. Dental, vision, health, life, tuition benefits,
travel and business package for $7500. Retirement on the university side is
very attractive. They will match 150% in the retirement. The health system
is a one to one match.

577 Urology   PA Solo private practice physician looking for a partner. He has a great
following of patients. Hospital will provide an income guarantee plus
overhead allocation with split overhead. They could talk partnership
anytime. The other gentleman is 35. The recruitment period will be 3
years, one year on an income guarantee and then 2 years to payback.
Philly is 1 hour within 90 minutes. Semi rural community turning into a
bedroom and retirement community.
582 Urology    

Urology - Private practice of 2 Urologists seeking a third Urologist. This
is one of the most rapidly growing areas of Philly and the Northeastern US.
This is changing from farmland to suburban homes rapidly.

The senior partner has been in the community for 26 years. His partner has
been with him for 3 1/2 years. It took Peter 2 1/2 years to make partner.
They practice full service Urology and Pediatric Urology. They have a
satelite office that they are trying to expand. Hospital is expanding a
physician office in that location that holds various primary care and
subspecialty physicians. They would like to be the Urologists in that
building and be the only Urologists in that building.

They will welcome an MD/DO male or female candidate. They are looking for a
high quality person with good training. They do minimal noninvasive surgery
and would like to see that compliment to their group. Overall package will
be a base salary ($110k) plus incentive bonus and all the usual benefits.
40 - 45% is their typical overhead. The new doc will split time between the
two offices. The senior physician will be on hand to help the physician get
started and be a mentor.

The docs sees 200 patients per week. 10 new patients each week for each
physician. One of them is in the OR every day. They do everything but
laprascopic procedures. They do office prostate, TUNA, while doing cryo and
seed implantation at the hospital. The hospital has mentioned that they
will help with school loans.

588 GI   NJ GI - They are a 6 member group with one gentleman retiring. They have one
female practitioner and 6 nurse practitioners. They are owners of a surgery
center. It is a multispecialty surgery center with 2 procedures rooms and 2
ORs. They have orthopaedic surgeons who work in the surgery center as well.
They also have a clinical research center as well. One of their docs is
chief of staff at one of their hospitals. Very visible group.

The economy is growing. They are within one hour to major metro. The group
has been there for 25 years. Each doc in the office sees 35 - 40 patients
per day. They are considering either making the new GI a full time
hospitalist with no call during the week, weekend only shared call or a
typical practice of combination of clinical and hospital practice. The new
doc will take a little extra call for the first year.

They do ERCP, EUS, Bravo, Esophical and other advanced procedures. They are
the largest GI group in the area. They have one other group that offers
competition but they have been able to operate a successful practice.

3 years to partnership no buy in, graduated % of ownership into all practice
assets. They don't believe in buyins. $180k plus to start, first year
earnings should be between $230k and $250k. Car, malpractice, phone, all
personal benefits included. They will accept any candidate, any background,
non-discriminatory group. They see patients of all races, religions.
